WHAT IS DESIGN AGENCY
This class (4 cr.) fulfills an all-college requirement for CEL Community Engaged Learning AND Career Readiness: Experiential. As such, you are expected to dedicate 90 hours, over the course of the semester and outside of class, to earning the 2 credit hours. Some weeks are busier than others, and while some work is done together in class, work is also completed independently, in ways that mirror the experience of the workplace.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
A creative environment similar to a real-life design agency to develop independent art and design projects. Member students also work with clients, including non-profit and campus organizations to offer graphic design and other multimedia-related services. The course provides professional development for students through a wide array of individual projects, studio time, mentoring, visits from industry professionals, and networking in the community.
Working in Design Agency is much like an internship, requiring the flexibility, problem solving, and interpersonal skills found in a real-life workplace. As such, staff of the agency receive regular communication and evaluation from the faculty advisor and peers. This experience will elevate the skills that have become known as career readiness competencies, which are meaningful in every career path.
